Professional Enclosure for Enterprise Drives
With the ability to support 22110 (110mm) of M.2 NVMe SSD, the ICYNano let's enterprise users utilize the various type of M.2 NVMe SSDs without limitations. These enterprise 22110 SSDs offer high endurance for reliability, low latency, and the perfect balance of performance, which caters to the IT and media professionals who use data-intensive applications such as 3D animation rendering, video editing, and artificial intelligence applications.
Maximum Cooling Performance
As M.2 NVMe SSDs are notorious for overheating and throttling issues under heavy load, it is essential to have the proper cooling to pair with it. To maximize the cooling efficiency for the best performance, we have developed a dual function high-efficient heatsink lid and include the thermal pad to maintain optimal temperature under any circumstances.
Unlike many generic M.2 NVMe SSD enclosures that use a slide-in SSD design which prevents the SSD from fully touching the thermal pad/metal housing. The ICYNano MB861U31-1M2B's extra-large heatsink lid closes from the top leaves no gap between the SSD and thermal pad to provide the best heat conduction.
In the real-world test, the Samsung 970 Evo Plus SSD runs steadily at 44℃ under full load when used in ICYNano, 18℃ lower than used in generic metal M.2 SSD enclosures, proving ICYNano MB861U31-1M2B offers the best cooling performance in class.
Compact External Enclosure
The ICYNano has been engineered for mobility, with a slim and durable design. The solid metal construction helps ensure that your drive will be fully protected when you’re on the go and can be conveniently fit into your pocket or backpack.
Superior Performance
To fully utilize the power of the M.2 NVMe SSD, the ICYNano uses the USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface that can provide a transfer speed up to 10Gb/s and let you back up large data file and store 4K / 5K / 8K video within seconds.
Ultimate Compatibility
ICYNano comes with both USB Type C to C and C to A cables to support new and legacy PC/Mac systems that use different types of USB ports. Using cables offers the best performance and compatibility and unlike the hassles of a USB C to A adapter, that could cause speed reduction and compatibility issues. The ICYNano is a true plug and play (no drivers required) enclosure designed to be multi-OS compatible. It’s also backward compatible with the USB 2.0, 3.0, and 3.2 Gen 1 interface for best compatibility.

Frequent Asked Questions
Q: I installed the SSD and the device is connected to my computer, but the drive is not detected.
A: There are some scenarios you can do to rule out potential problems.
Scenario 1 – Drive status LED is not lighting up
Make sure the connected USB port works properly and the SSD, port, and cable are plugged in and secured. If the LED lights up, but the drive is still not detected by the system, please continue to refer to Scenario 2; if the LED is off, please contact our customer service euinfo@icydock.com.
Note: Please be sure to use the USB cable that comes with ICY DOCK. If you have the same specification cable, you can replace it to see if the problem is solved.
Scenario 2 - The drive status LED lights up, but the SSD is still not detectable
Please confirm the drive and the connected USB port is in working condition and transfers data normally. Make sure you use the cable that comes with MB861U31-1M2B. If the problem persists, please go to Scenario 3.
Note: If the situation permits, we strongly recommend get your USB drivers updated, connect the device to different USB ports on the system, or replace the USB cable with the same specification to see if the connection problem is solved.
Scenario 3 - The SSD and the connected USB port do work normally, but the drive does not show up on my computer after connecting to my computer
It may be because the new SSD has not been formatted yet, or other drives have used the selected drive letter. Please go to Windows disk management to check whether the partition of the installed drive's partition is listed (refer to the tutorial for more info). After SSD formatting or changing the code, you should able to see the drive. If the problem still exists, please refer to Scenario 4
Note: If you have another SSD with the same specifications on hand, we suggest replacing the current drive with it and see if the problem is solved.
Scenario 4 - It has been verified to rule out all possible hardware problems, but the system still cannot detect the SSD
Due to the difference in power consumption between different USB specification ports, if the drive you are using requires more power than the USB port can provide, it may not be detected by the system. This situation generally occurs in the USB 2.0 port because its power supply is up to 2.5W. When the current drive exceeds 2.5W, the system will not detect it or may cause unstable transmission. If this problem occurs, we recommend using a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (also known as USB 3.1 or USB 3.1 Gen 2) port or an SSD with a lower power consumption.
Please contact euinfo@icydock.com if the problem persists so we can resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Q: Is there any known compatibility issue between ICYNano MB861U31-1M2B and M.2 NVMe SSDs?
A: The ICYNano MB861U31-1M2B uses a JMicron JMS583 chipset and is designed to be compatible with most of the M.2 NVMe SSD available on the market. See below for the latest known issues reported by the ICYNano users and a list of compatible SSDs.
Note: the SSD issues listed below have only been reported by a few customers. It is still too early to say they are not compatible as the issues may be caused by SSD firmware and host configurations. We are verifying the compatibility with JMicron and will constantly update the compatibility list. Meanwhile, we suggest using SSDs that are known to be worked with ICYNano MB861U31-1M2B.
